Hugh Edfors - Secretary Black Hawk SDC
Hugh Edfor's 63 Avanti
This is Hugh Edfors 1963 Avanti. It has power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, radio and tinted glass. She is painted Avanti gold and has the Elk (tan) vinyl interior with bucket seats. Other equiipment includes the twin traction differential, heavy duty springs, whitewall tires and Avanti wire wheels.
Hugh purchased the Avanti at the Ted Wilson estate auction in May 1994. She was originally built 11/15/62 with serial number 63R-1798 and shipped to Orlando Florida. She was rebuilt in the late 80's and early 90's and repainted the original Avanti Gold color. There were less than 3500 cars made by Studebaker between 1962 and 1963, possibly as many as 1800 are still operable because of their high collector status and parts availability
Hugh will answer Studebaker Avanti questions at 630-369-8038
Hugh is currently the Black Hawk SDC secretary and the Avanti Club Activities Director. He has available to car lovers a collection of auto brochures, posters, magazines and also historical car models at his home recreation center and in his 4-car garage.
